Hey it's Aga and welcome to the most awaited video,
this time I'll talk to you a little bit about sugar.
More specifically, sugar in fruits
and why it doesn't cause diabetes.
I'll start from something that's very important
and it seems to me like a lot of people don't realize it
that sugar is necessary for us, sugar is healthy.
We need sugar, our bodies won't work without it.
Without it our cells won't work well,
we won't have energy, it's our fuel,
it gives us energy and thanks to sugar we're not sleepy all the time.
So it's not that we can't have any sugar at all
but the fact is that white sugar, the one you add to your tea
or cakes or most of the processed foods we have these days
isn't the one I recommend eating.
The one from fruits, definitely yes.
The most common question I've been getting from you
is that eating so much fruit will cause type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance.
And who says that are not only people who just heard it and it stayed in their minds
but also doctors, apparently, and nutritionists.
So today I'm here to tell you how it all goes
because it's not as obvious as it seems
and the studies I sometimes get from my followers
are studies done on rats which are either sick,
or/and get only fructose and nothing else,
and they live on the fructose only with nothing else,
or they sometimes have different nutrients washed out from their bodies
and they get just fructose afterwards.
And based on these studies people state that fruits cause diabetes.
This doesn't make sense in my opinion
and in the description box I'll add studies done on real people
who ate only fruits and didn't note any, ANY side effects
but they noticed good effects.
Check it out if you're interested.
Insulin resistance is one of the things that characterize type 2 diabetes,
it means that sugar becomes unavailable for cells
for our muscles which need it.
It's not being recessed into the cells
but stays in our bloodstream so the glucose level rises a lot
and this is that sugar level spikes
that so many people try to scare me with.
Symptoms might include, for example, being very thirsty,
urinating a lot, being tired, losing weight,
not being able to control craving for chocolate,
cakes and so on because the cells which don't get the sugar
keep wanting the energy, they have to live on something,
and they need to get that energy.
But they don't get it so they keep demanding something,
and you have cravings.
When my muscles need this energy, need the fuel,
they send a message to my body.
And my body hears, hey, we need this energy
so give us food.
So then I feel hunger, thirst.
And what do I do? I eat.
And I'll eat, let's say, a bowl of watermelon,
or a bowl of cherries or five bananas, or whatever else.
And I satisfy the need that my body told me about.
What's important here is that fruits have a lot of fiber
and this fiber helps a lot with releasing sugar.
It releases this sugar from fruits slowly,
it's happening slowly, it doesn't go all at once,
and you suddenly have a very high sugar level in your blood, no.
This fiber helps to release this sugar slowly,
in right moments where your body needs it.
This is a huge thing that doesn't happen
when you eat chocolate, cookies, cakes
or any other things that have refined sugar
this just doesn't happen then.
My body knows exactly that in this very moment
that there's sugar in my blood and it doesn't belong there.
It should be in my cells instead.
So it's sending one more message saying it needs an insulin.
And this is where insulin works.
Insulin is released, it comes to the right place
and, to put it simply, it opens the cells.
When insulin opens the cell it now has an entrance
which is used by sugar to get in
and leave the bloodstream.
This is what happens and the the cell closes and everything is fine.
And this sugar is burned as an energy
that our bodies need so much.
And, as you can see, this is a very simple, fast and painless process
happening in each and every body
that people don't mess it, that's healthy.
You might ask where's the problem.
Well, the problem is that most people on standard diets
have a high level of fat in their blood.
So it's not only the sugar swimming there that then goes away and it's all good,
there's also fat in there.
And it comes mostly from animal products - meat, dairy.
From big amount of nuts,
and that's why when I showed you my "cheesecake"
I said I don't recommend eating it too often
mostly because there's tons of nuts and it's pretty fatty.
There are also oils and not only the ones you put on your salads
but also frying with oils and so on.
Also all those processed foods you buy in a store
and you don't really know what's in them.
And the problem is... it's the same situation,
my body wants energy, wants food.
So I eat something and I put sugar into my blood.
And then the insulin comes and tries to open the cell
and, like I said before, insulin comes, opens the cell, sugar goes in and that's it.
In this situation everything is more complicated
because insulin isn't able to open the cell because the cell is blocked by the fat.
The cell is blocked by the fat that's in the blood.
So there's no way that the insulin can do anything
and the body keeps saying that hey we need this sugar, we need this sugar,
and this insulin keeps going and trying to open the cells, and it can't.
It might open 1 in 50 or something but in general it's a big problem,
and sugar stays in blood.
And what happens then is that you have a high sugar level in your blood,
because it doesn't have anywhere to go.
So it either is converted into fat and stays in your body
or it's an awesome food for fungi, parasites
and then it comes candida as well.
They all thrive on the sugar that's left inside.
And here all the cravings come
because your body keeps wanting this sugar
that it knows it's there but the muscles don't get it.
It demands something so you have cravings
mainly for fatty foods that one eats on a daily basis
and also all the chocolates, bars and things like that.
And the effect is that one eats what he wants,
chocolates or things like pizzas, french fries and so on
because he feels hunger, he feels like his body wants it
and it does want it because this fat that one eats all the time
blocks the cell that isn't able to open even though the insulin works
and tries to help, to work the way it should
but it can't because a human is the one who blocks it.
So should people with type 2 diabetes limit or stop eating fruits?
Of course not!
What they should cut off are,
I have a short list here,
meat, dairy, burgers, sauces with a lot of oil,
highly processed foods, frozen foods and
all the other foods that contain unhealthy fats.
And believe me that white bread isn't too good either.
Cutting off those fats will help with getting rid of the fat from the blood
and it won't block the cells and the sugar will go into them normally,
and you won't have sugar spikes.
There are tons of people who totally cured their type 2 diabetes
after switching into raw veganism or,
you won't believe, even into fruitarianism.
And it really works because cutting off all those products
you'll get rid of the fat from your blood
and it won't block the cells
so the insulin works the way it should work,
and the cells open and the sugar goes in, everything is fine.
So limiting fruits? Nope, I don't recommend.
So if a doctor or a nutritionist tells you that
if you have diabetes then you should limit consumption of fruits
or you should stop, or that fruits will cause
the diabetes then I recommend changing a doctor and/or nutritionist.
And since I'm here I'll talk about something else that's related
which is that people tell me I don't eat enough fats.
And in general I'm not saying that people should be on a fat free diet
mostly because it's not even possible, everything has sugar.
And we just need it.
But we don't need it in such high amounts,
Most people eat way too much of it in all kinds of forms
and most of them are highly processed, really highly processed,
and this is just not healthy for us, as simply as it sounds.
So I do agree that we need fats
but each fruit has fat.
It's not that I don't eat fat while eating fruits.
By eating so much fruits I'm eating as much fats as my body needs.
The highest in fats are, for example, avocados,
plantains, pomegranate, guava, passion fruits, raspberries.
And many, many more.
These are fruits with the highest amount of fat comparing to others.
So I recommend low fat diets, like mine,
I think that this way is the healthiest not only considering diabetes but other aspects as well.
I really hope that I explained a lot of doubts here,
that I helped you, that the whole understanding of this issue
is better, wider and everything is generally easier.
I'll add some links in the description box below so definitely check it out.
And that's all.
Like I said, I hope it was interesting for you.

Some were given a fat-rich diet composed of olive oil, butter, egg yolks, and cream; others were given a carbohydrate-rich diet of sugar, candy, pastry, white bread, baked potatoes, syrup, bananas, rice and oatmeal.
